Get Back (To Target)

I haven't been to Target in what seems like forever. I decided to jump back in the game today so I could catch the 90% off Easter clearance (and the John Frieda deal, I don't dye my hair, but I know plenty of people who do). I didn't find much - nothing compared to the Valentines run I had but all in all pretty good.

1st Stop
(4) Kandoo wipes .49c each
(2) Lysol wipes .39c each
Aveeno lotion -.01c (I didn't know about the $10GC on sunscreen until I got home. I thought it was $5)
(2) Ivory 3-pack soap -.05c each
TRESemme conditioner & hairspray $2.24 (only 30% off - I didn't want to wait)
(2) John Frieda foam hair dye -.51c each (factoring in gift card)

(17) Reese & M&M eggs @ .19c each (I opened one and the candy's are so small, they should have made the egg half the size)
(2) M&M people & yellow tin .19c each
Hershey kiss .19c
Pez .39c
(3) Glitter & (1) Tie-dye egg coloring kit .19c each
Rachel Hale egg coloring kit .29c
Cars plastic favor holder .24c
(2) Bug books .25c each
(2) Butterfly felt pails .25c each
+ another item for .62c

My subtotal was $14.26 + I got a $5GC. According to the receipt I saved $80.86

I spotted...
Sign said 50% but they were tagged at 75%

2nd Stop
(4) Ivory 3-pack soap -.05c each
(2) Reach floss -.03c each
Suave Dry Shampoo free (received in mail)
(2) John Frieda foam hair dyes -.51c each (factoring in gift card)
(4) 24 count Crayola Twistables Crayons .49c each
(2) Chocolate bunnies .38c each
Beautiful cupcake paper @ .19c (I actually bought one of these full price, well I used Zyrtec overage - hmm I guess I have been visiting Target. They were small boring trips)
Edible grass .19c (for cupcakes! I should have also bought jelly beans so I could make nests)
(2) Skittles tins .19c each
Plaster eggs .49c
+ another item for $1.64

Subtotal was $8.90, used GC from 1st stop to pay $5.86 total out of pocket. I got another $5 GC. Receipt says I saved $67.57.

I'm planning to do another Freida deal, I just have to get word on which color to get. Valentines one store didn't have the 90% off posted so I got a bunch of awesome deals, hopefully that will happen again (I got off to a late start on that too, I just hate going and having things ring up as 75%). Well it was fun for me to get back into the Q game. I should say, back to studying, but who am I kidding? Back to just hanging around.

Forget School - I Just Want To (Thrift) Shop

It's been 8 days since I last posted. I am just so busy with school. I'm finally finished with all the little projects I have to do, now I am concentrating on the three exams I have in the next 10 days. But that doesn't mean I haven't been going to GW, even though I found the prices to be a little high I managed to pick up a couple items...

This mirrored hook for $1.99
I've been on a Simply Shabby Chic finding spree lately, this was a bit expensive at $3.99. Since it is brand new with hardware attached, I'm hoping that it wasn't a clearance item that was priced less at Target. It's better for me not to know these things.
This frame was $2.99. The last thing I need is another frame, but I can't help myself - I love me an orate frame. I'm think of painting this.
I also got 8 small jars of glitter for .99c

Now moving on to things I didn't buy... (FYI my phone decided to take extra bad photos so proceed with caution)

This magazine rack was $12.99 & wobbly, I was debating but I left it.
This chair was $4.99 & a good redo candidate.
This end table would also be a good redo candidate - $12.99 or was it $14.99?
An adorable pink cake stand
I don't know why, but I liked this. It was $19.99 check out the damage (bottom center)
Back side

I'm not really sure when I am going to post my big frame redo. I'll tell you right now, I'm not loving the color maybe that's why I'm lagging. I haven't been doing as much studying as I should be doing so I'm going to (try to) concentrate on that until I have my sweet sweet summer break. I can hardly wait, it's making me a bit crazy to tell you the truth.

Happy Dance (Or Successful Thrift Store Shopping Day)

Arizona Goodwill's have a 20% off coupon when you purchase $10+, you can find it here. This makes great finds even better, everything posted is what I paid with said coupon. Anyway, I went to a couple GW's yesterday and found...

This perfect condition Simply Shabby Chic lamp shade in the British Rose print already cleaned up and on a lamp. I paid $1.59
These cute flower stem holders for .55c each, one is missing a vial, but I am sure I can find one.
This cute little mirror (that will be getting a makeover) was $1.19
This is my 2nd favorite find of the day, so pretty. It will also get a makeover (my sister thinks it shouldn't + she wants it). It was $3.19
and lastly, my score of the day (or is it month, possibly even year)
This giant and gorgeous baroque frame! (I know my backyard is an overgrown mess, the frame is in great condition but is very dusty) Isn't she pretty? I wasn't planning a GW stop after class since it's in the opposite direction from home, but at the last minute I decided to go and I found her. She was priced at $17.99, but I only paid $14.37! I don't know what color to paint her, I'm leaning towards pistachio, but open to suggestions. I'm going out of town for Easter (finally - I'm so excited!) so painting will have to wait.

I also spotted some other awesome things, but I didn't bring them home...

These darling cups were .99c each
Vintage pillowcases $1.49
I couldn't believe how high this was priced - $19.99. What?! I have the drawers closed in the picture, but they are broken. Wayy too much work needed for $20, at least for me.

April 23rd is my blogs 1 month anniversary, I won't be able to post then, but I just want to thank everyone for reading (1,639 pageviews and counting) and I want to especially thank my followers and everyone who's commented. Thank you thank you thank you!

Quickie Makeover (That Took Me Months To Execute)

We've had this ugly plant stand in out backyard forever, It was $2 at a yard sale. I read a posting months ago about someone making a similar stand over. I've been trying to find that posting/blog so I could give credit, but now I can't find it. If you know who I copied this idea from, please let me know!

Before: a typical tiled metal stand that was banished to the back yard and collecting dirt (literally)
I picked up a 12x12 white marble tile from Home Depot for $3.99. It turned out that the top wasn't tile after all, it was plywood weird. Anyway, I used some gold spray paint (that I actually had on hand!) to paint the base (after I knocked out the plywood) and I was thinking that my beautiful white marble tile would just slip right into the groves of the stand, but nope, the corners are a bit rounded. So I added the stupid plywood back on and just put my pretty white marble tile on top (yes I am 100% in love with white marble, my absolute dream kitchen (and bathroom) would have white carrara marble :drooollll:) The tile is pretty heavy, so for now I'll live with it till I think of a solution (which will probably be never). Anyway I ended up with...
I think it's cute. It will have the glamorous job of holding up my fan.

It was 95* outside today (I think it's time to put away my down comforter) so I didn't do any thrift or yard sale stops. I did make a quick GW stop yesterday and all I found was Charlaine Harris - Dead in the Family book. I love the series and have all the books except that one, it's in great condition and was only $2.99 so I was very happy to find it.

I really liked posting about things I wanted to get but didn't, it made me feel like I actually got them or something, so here is around round...
I think this mirror could be fabulous if it was dressed up, it was $9.99
I couldn't decide if I liked this mirror or not, but at $39.99 it was staying at GW
I really should have gotten these William Faulkner books, they were $4.99

Easter Baskets

In my last post I talked about the Easter baskets I made as prizes for our Easter egg hunt (who says adults can't hunt for eggs?) Since most of my family and friends don't know about my blog (except my immediate family, who don't read it anyway, thanks for the support mom and dad!) I decided I could post them here without any worries. I told you how they remind me of Charlotte's bouquet of flower's for Miranda's mother so anyway here they are...

These two are my "dental" baskets they have:
Colgate Pro Clinical toothpaste (free), Reach toothbrush (free), Target floss (free) and .37c Target mouthwash. I really should have stuffed two of each item in them, but for some reason I think that would be weird.
Also I added what I think is a cute idea, I added a piece of candy and wrote "sweet tooth".
Yeah my circle cut is horrible
On the left is an Airwick Freshmatic (.24c from Target) and on the right is my "nail" basket that has, nail polish remover ($1), Rimmel nail polish (free), Revlon nail filer and cuticle clipper (both free) and Target cotton pads (.50c?)

Next is the Brita filter I got for $3 at Fry's (I saw some smaller ones on clearance for $6 at my favorite Fry's yesterday, I didn't get them, I was too lazy to come back with my q's + I don't really need them)

My "personal hygiene" basket has: Suave shampoo & conditioner (.13c each from Fry's), 3-pack Ivory soap (free from Walmart), Olay face wash (including tax was .75c from Target), big bottle of Dial lotion ($1 from Walgreens) and 2 (cause they are smallish) Suave deodorants (free from Fry's). For this "basket" I actually used a basket (from the .99c store)

And lastly the "grand prize" (aka the Charlotte basket, I may have mixed too many prints together, but I made this last so I know I would have enough supplies for everything else), the "cleaning supplies" basket that has: Windex Outdoor All-in-One (free from Walgreens), Target ammonia (.12c), Target bleach spray cleaner (.37c), Seventh Generation Dish Soap (.69c at Target), 2000 Flushes toilet thing ($1 Walgreens), Lysol Neutra Air (free from Fry's), and lastly (2) 3-pack Scotch-Brite sponges ($3 for both at Fry's, I wasn't going back to Walmart for the .34c ones). I put the items in a dish tub from the .99c store.

I got my super cute Easter tags from here, since I have a b&w laser printer, I had them printed at the UPS store in cardstock. I cut some Eastery looking paper I had in a tag shape, attached the print outs and added some glitter (yay for glitter). Close ups (IDK why they look off here, click for close ups)

I was going to use the printouts for cupcakes I am making but I found these at Dollar Tree:

I love love love this tag, I only used it on one basket, I'm keeping it for myself it's so cute. I should have added the glitter on top but I think it still works.

I used 4 Easter grasses (.33c each from Walgreens), 5 different prints of cellowrap (from different dollar stores, I saw the same prints at Joanns, Walmart, etc. maybe they had more sq. feet but I wanted variety, I will say I ended up like the simpler prints more) one ribbon ($2) from Joanns and another ribbon from the .99c store.

The End.
